December 4, 2022 – Luke 1:26-38 | The With Us God | The First Christian Act Is Cooperation

Mary is the first Christian. before miracles, teachings, crucifixion, and resurrection she believes in the gospel of Jesus. How? When she first hears the message of Jesus, as incredible as it is, she simply states, “May it be with me according to your word.” Her response is a great relief for those who feel that God needs them to do something. God is already doing. We simply need to cooperate.

  1. We discuss with some regularity in the journey group the concept of our individualism, our humanity. Or maybe I perceive that we do because I find that a really interesting area to explore: free will versus God’s plan. It’s always a good discussion, but nothing I recall is as powerful to me as this week’s podcast, and the concept of readying ourselves to accept or not accept opportunities God presents. I need to re-listen (I was testing a new cookie recipe so maybe distracted at times) but I heard a union between 2 seemingly competing or incompatible notions that I’ve never heard/thought before. Thank you for that.

    • Thanks for the insights and sharing here, Bryan. I find my life to have a greater stake when I lean into a daily dependency on God’s call…and my cooperation!
