Here is a copy of what I posted on Facebook today. Keep checking in here for more posts and thoughts in the near future. I’m emerging from my writing hiatus!
For a fair number of years I have used Facebook to stay connected with people from all walks of life. At times, this platform has afforded some wonderful opportunities to stay current on many of the events in your life. I find lately that frequent hoaxes, hacks, spam, ads, security issues, and other intrusions make this platform more time intensive to manage. I’m sure that there are many reasons to continue on Facebook, but I currently do not see the great value of them relative to these intrusions.
I will be deactivating my Facebook account as of this Friday, October 12. This is a deactivation not a deletion. I may return to this platform in the future.
