Love is often described only in terms of a feeling or a virtue. For the followers of Jesus, love is an essential truth of God's character and a mandatory call. Love is from God, embodied in Jesus, and expressed through us. That love requires more than just a “feeling.” It invites action on our part. It is an action of sacrificial affection and joy for the sake of others, just as God's love was expressed to us.
